Pebeo oil painting auxiliaries bring together all the essential products needed to prepare, modify and protect oil colors. Solvents, identified by purple labels, are used to thin paints, mediums and varnishes, and are also ideal for cleaning brushes and tools. Oils, marked with orange labels, add depth, brilliance and durability to artworks by fluidifying the paint without weakening its body.

Oil mediums, also identified by orange labels, alter paint structure, transparency and gloss. They are essential for “fatting” the paint and controlling the build-up of successive layers in accordance with the fat-over-lean rule, ensuring long-term stability of the artwork. Driers, marked with red labels, accelerate drying time and should be used sparingly to avoid surface defects.

Finally, varnishes, identified by turquoise labels for bottles and yellow labels for aerosols, provide final protection by forming a uniform, durable and transparent film. They are applied once the painting is fully dry, with the exception of retouching varnish.
